Christopher C. Melvin, Jr. | Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Chris Melvin is the CEO of Melvin & Company which he founded in 1989. A member of the Chicago Stock Exchange since 1988, he was also an elected member of the Chicago Stock Exchange Board of Governors from 1993 to 1996. Chris was recently elected as a member of the Board of Directors for the Securities Industry Association (SIA).
From 1983 through 1988, Chris was a floor member of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Prior to that, Chris gained valuable experience as an assistant trader with Shatkin Investment Company.
Chris began his career in January, 1980 at the Chicago Stock Exchange where he worked in Clearing Surveillance. Chris holds a BA in Political Science from American University in Washington D.C.
John Sydnor | Chief Operating Officer
John Sydnor has a twenty year history of leadership and experience leading firms domestically and internationally in the areas of capital fundraising, strategic acquisition analysis/planning, organizational realignment and new business development. Prior to Melvin & Company, he worked at a private equity firm where he led the firm's healthcare investment initiatives. Previous to this position, he co-owned a data analytics and business intelligence provider to the pharmaceutical industry. He has also held leadership positions at IBM, Apple Computer, Oracle and the Publicis Groupe.
John holds a bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Tim Salata | Controller
Tim Salata has a twenty year career in financial services, primarily in the broker-dealer industry. Tim has experience in corporate accounting and reporting, strategic planning and policy & procedure development. Additionally,
he has project experience in accounting practices development and financial system due diligence. Prior to Melvin & Company, he was chief financial officer of Northern Trust Securities (NTSI), the broker-dealer subsidiary of Northern Trust Bank.
Mr. Salata holds a BS in Commerce and an MBA, both from DePaul University and holds Series 7 and 27 licenses.
